Regular website availability monitoring is not enough
Only a small proportion of customers monitor the availability of their website using online monitoring tools. According to our measurements, less than one-tenth of a percent of all clients do so. They select one page and have it monitored at regular intervals by an automated robot. If it finds that the page is unavailable, it sends a notification by email or SMS. But is that enough? Not by a long shot!
The internet is a dangerous place full of cyber threats.
Organized groups are constantly looking for opportunities to make money. We know this very well. Every month, we have to deal with dozens, and sometimes even hundreds, of cases with specialized cybercrime units, the police, authorities, and sometimes even counterterrorism organizations. Most of our customers who encounter these problems are completely unaware of it. Their website, server, or emails are used in their name to commit crimes.
EWM uses several tools that can detect manipulation of your website or domain. It also monitors whether anyone has found anything dangerous on your website.
Think carefully about everything that is connected to your online business.
- It is definitely a website, but it must not only be accessible, it must also display the page with your content correctly. This is where most monitoring ends and ours begins.
- The functionality of a website depends on many factors (domain, DNS, DNSSEC, hosting, content management system, etc.).
- What about the HTTPS certificate? Is it about to expire? If it expires, browsers may not allow users to access your website. Or, an incorrectly generated certificate will only be accepted by some browsers (perhaps yours, in which case you will never notice), and search engines may not be able to access your website.
- These are emails through which you communicate with your customers.
- Are you on any blacklists? Both your website and your emails.
- Is someone stealing your domain and changing its owner or DNS records?
- Are your DNS servers fast enough? Is your DNSSEC working properly? Do all DNS servers return the same records?
- We will notify you of slow scripts or a large number of 404 errors.
- We will even notify you that your website needs to be optimized because you have improperly configured redirects from http to https or from www to non-www. These are common errors that burden the website, slow down pages, discourage customers, and thus reduce your efforts to succeed...
- We will perform a security scan of your website to ensure that it is not dangerous for visitors.
- We will monitor available domains in other top-level domains (TLDs) than the one you have.
WEDOS EWM takes care of everything. You don't need to set anything up.
You can activate the service for a specific domain in the customer administration and fill in the email address where you want to receive alerts. For newly ordered services, add the additional serviceto your order.
EWM will retrieve the necessary data, which it will monitor, and run the first tests. If you are interested, you will receive the data for more advanced tests by email.
That's it. From now on, you will receive warnings if anything changes. EWM does not aim to find the specific cause of errors, but to alert you that something is wrong. This allows it to cover such a wide range of potential threats.

Certificate checks – You may not know it, but your website is signed in a number of places with various certificates that guarantee visitors that the content is genuine and that the transmission is encrypted. If these certificates expire, your website will be reported to the browser as an untrustworthy "fake." Your website may not work. And the worst thing is that sometimes it will work for you but not for other visitors, so you won't even notice. Don't worry. From now on, we'll keep an eye on it.
